During Careers in Energy Week, Michigan’s energy companies and educators team up to create awareness for students and jobseekers around the rewarding careers in the energy sector. 

Our members are proud to host the following events:

Monday, October 16

Lansing Board of Water & Light Reverse Job Fair

8 a.m. – 2 p.m.

REO Depot – 1201  S. Washington Lansing, MI 

Lansing Board of Water of Water & Light (BWL) will be hosting a reverse job fair for Lansing area high school students. Students will learn about the various careers available in the energy industry by interacting with BWL employees. Interactive activities, career information, swag and snacks will be available. Lansing Board of Water & Light Job Fair

BWL Depot – 1201 S. Washington Lansing, MI

Learn more about careers at the Lansing Board of Water & Light (BWL). Representatives from the following departments will be in attendance: Transmission Distribution, Water & Steam Distribution, Project Engineering, Work Management, Operations Technology, Customer Operations, Strategic Planning & Development, Carbon Neutrality and Customer Projects/Utility Services. Lansing Community College (LCC) Women in Energy Careers

10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Join women of all ages from the Lansing area to learn about high-wage, high-demand careers in energy and the LCC programs to get you started during this speaker and networking event.

This event is free and open to all community members. Transportation is not provided; parking is free at the LCC West Campus lots or CATA Route 12 runs between the Downtown and West campuses.

Thursday, October 19

DTE Energy High School Event (Private event)

9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

DTE Energy hosts students from 9 area high schools. Students will be exposed to energy careers in various methods including hands-on exploration. The first half of the day will be dedicated to career exposure and exploration. After lunch, students will hear from various training and educational institutions who offer curriculum in the various careers explored in the earlier part of the day.

DTE Energy Women in Clean Energy Event (Private event)

Noon to 1 p.m.

The Women of DTE employee resource group presents Women in Clean Energy. This series is aimed at bringing a platform for women across the enterprise to chat about ‘clean energy’ and provide guidance on skillsets to others who are looking for developmental opportunities. 

Henry Ford College Careers in Energy Event 

1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Gymansium of the Athletic Memorial Building (Building H on the main campus)

Henry Ford College will be hosting more than 120 employers at its annual Career Expo. There will be free professional portraits and resumse review. Employers in attendance will be hiring for full time and part time employees as well as interns and co-ops. For more information, click here.

Weeklong Activities

Traverse City Light & Power (Private event)

TCLP has partnered with Northwest Education Services for Careers in Energy Week. Our lineworkers will be visiting Electric Occupation classes to educate and guide high school students on the role of a kineworker and introduce them to this career.

Grand Rapids Community College

Grand Rapids Community College will be doing a weeklong social media campaign featuring interviews with linworkers. Check it out at on their Facebook page.
