2024 Careers In Energy Week
During Careers in Energy Week (CIEW,) Michigan’s energy companies and educators team up to create awareness for students and jobseekers around the rewarding careers in the energy sector.
The Michigan Energy Workforce Development Consortium (MEWDC) members are proud to host the following CIEW and pre-CIEW events:
Tuesday, October 15
DTE Energy Career Awareness Event (Invitation Only)
10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
High school students affiliated with the Urban League of Detroit & Southeastern Michigan (Academy For Business & Technology – Melvindale & Oakside Prep Academy) will be welcomed at DTE’s Corporate Headquarters in Downtown Detroit. This event will provide students with an opportunity to explore skilled trades and professional careers in the energy sector through interactions with DTE employees and an engaging activity in the InfraSource Mobile Training Facility.
Wednesday, October 16 – Thursday, October 17
Henry Ford College Career Expo Collaborative Event (Registration Required)
1:00 to 1:30 p.m.

The Michigan Energy Workforce Development Consortium will be an exhibitor of this innovative, hands-on career exploration experience for thousands of high school students, teachers and counselors from Genesee, Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, Shiawassee & Tuscola counties as they learn about today’s hottest careers from working professionals! Consumers Energy Event (Invitation Only)
9:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Flint Gas City
Consumers Energy will be hosting a tour of Flint Gas City. Students will learn about the various careers available in the energy industry by interacting with Consumers Energy employees. They will use hands on simulations to detect gas leaks and more in a safe environment.
Lansing Board of Water & Light Reverse Job Fair
8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
REO Depot – 1201 S. Washington Lansing, MI
Lansing Board of Water of Water & Light (LBWL) will be hosting a reverse job fair for Lansing area high school students. Students will learn about the various careers available in the energy industry by interacting with LBWL employees. Interactive activities, career information, swag and snacks will be available. Public power utilities across the U.S., including the members of MEWDC member – the Michigan Municipal Electric Association, celebrate Public Power Week (PPW) the first full week of October every year to help customers and stakeholders understand how they can better engage with their community-owned utility and benefit from all its offering.
